Brookfield Elementary School

Approximately seven miles from Randolph, Brookfield Elementary School is located on the Ridge Road in Brookfield, Vermont. The school was built in 1968, and an addition was put on in 1979. Between 1996 and 1997, a recreation area (with a Little League field) and a Mezzanine was built to provide library/media space in the school. There is one principal, 16 teachers, and 12 support staff for the K-6 school population of 114 students. Their school philosophy begins with the following statement: "The school exists to educate the whole child. Learning must foster academic achievement and social responsibility. Emphasis will be placed on how to learn and acquire knowledge as well as on the mastery of skills, facts and concepts. The students will learn to set goals for themselves and enjoy a healthy self-concept. In order to achieve this, the unique abilities inherent in each child will be recognized and encouraged. In this way, the child should become a useful and contributing member of society."
