Greetings From Randolph Union High School

The towns of Braintree, Brookfield and Randolph send us a total of 685 students for our school, grades 7 - 12, (2003-04). The attached Randolph Area Vocational Center has an enrollment of 155 students tuitioned from 6 area high schools. Our local educational program is greatly enhanced by Vermont Technical College just a few miles away in Randolph Center.

Our experienced, fully licensed staff offers the students a comprehensive educational program. Every student belongs to a small Teacher Advisory (TA) group that meets daily. From TA, middle level students move through the day as teams and follow the same time schedule as do the high school students. Students who need a little extra help or direction can participate in such programs as Project Advance, Project Achieve, the V.I.P. program, Community Based Learning, School to Work, or catch up a little in the After School Assistance Program. Foreign language offerings for grades 7 - 12, an extensive fine arts program, extra privileges for good grades, an increased emphasis on academic/vocational integration, and a well kept facility , added to all the above will show anyone visiting us why RUHS is well respected in the Vermont educational community.

Of special note is our Senior Project Program. It requires all seniors to complete an independently designed performance assessed project. The RUHS Senior Project has been recognized regionally and nationally as an exemplary program that demonstrates the culmination of student learning at the high school level. Seniors present their projects to community panels in the spring of each year. Successful completion of a Senior Project has been a requirement for graduation for many years.

RUHS offers a full range of extra-curricular and interscholastic activities. Drama, music, international exchange clubs, and National Honor Society are but a few. School and community arts events are frequently coordinated with the Chandler Cultural Center in the center of Randolph. Sports offerings include soccer, basketball, golf and lacrosse for both boys and girls, and wrestling, gymnastics, cheerleading, softball and baseball. RUHS competes in Division ll competition at the state level, and is a member of the Northern Vermont Athletic Conference.

Approximately 65% of RUHS graduates further their education at 2 and 4 year universities and colleges. Many others enter the workforce or the military. Randolph Union High School is approved by the Vermont Department of Education and accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

Randolph is geographically located in the center of the state just off I-89. The close proximity to the state capitol (30 minutes away) and the commercial and entertainment offerings of Burlington and Lebanon/Hanover/White River Junction (both within an hour) join Randolph's cultural offerings to provide many opportunities to enhance daily life without intruding on quiet Vermont ways.

The educational experience that Randolph Union High School offers its students is an excellent one. The district's administrative cabinet is working together to provide continuous improvement for all schools in the Orange Southwest Supervisory Union. Please visit us with your questions and take a tour of our well maintained facility.
